BIG BEND FAQ

Where is best to fly in for this trip?

  • Private Charter Flight: Lajitas International Airport located just outside of Big Bend.

  • Commercial Airline Flight: Midland International Air and Space Port located in Midland/Odessa, Tx.

Am I responsible for ground transportation to & through Big Bend?

  • No, if you have selected the Luxury Transportation package. Otherwise, yes. Feel free to ask a Sojourney staff member for car rental recommendations.

 

is there a meeting room with wifi  / AV equipment available if needed?

  • There is NO Wifi, but we do have all necessary AV equipment available for presentation purposes. 

 

Is there flexibility to define the schedule to fit our group agenda?

  • Yes, 100%. We will make this exactly what it should be to meet your specifications. 

 

What do you provide in terms of facilitation?

  • We do not provide any facilitation on a specific curriculum and/or materials. We refer to ourselves as logistics and space creation specialists working hand in hand with organization leadership to curate an ideal environment.

 

Is this a backpacking trip where I have to hike to the campsite?

  • No. You will drive directly up to the campsite with no additional hiking required, and we will stay at this “home base” the entire time. Think: “Camping with Comfort.”

 

Is there a bathroom nearby?

  • Yes! The bathrooms are located less than 50 yards from camp with toilet seats and running water to boot. It’s also noteworthy they are well kept (cleanliness wise) throughout the year.

 

Are there showers there?

  • No. We have a spicket with clean water right next to camp that’s been utilized in a “splash bath” kind of way (getting their face cleaned up etc.). Typically we take a dip in the river on the second day of the trip which does wonders from a cleanliness standpoint. Part of the experience of camping is utilizing what nature offers so we encourage just enjoying the ride!

 

Is alcohol included?

  • No. You will be responsible to provide your own alcohol throughout the trip. We do provide all the setups, mixers, sodas upon your request.

 

Do I have to bring any camping gear with me?

  • Nope! All gear is provided other than the clothes on your back and shoes on your feet. We’ll have a detailed packing list sent to you prior to the trip so you know exactly what to bring.

 

Is there cell phone service throughout the trip?

  • Yes and no. The service is hit or miss depending on where you are in the Park. Where our campsite is there is little to none. There will be opportunity to pick up some as we drive through the Park on Day 2 and 3, but generally speaking we encourage placing your phones on airplane mode and enjoy the opportunity to disconnect for a few days.

 

If someone from home needs to get a hold of us on an emergency basis is there a way to do so?

  • Yes. We will have a satellite phone on us throughout the trip enabling us to be contacted 24/7.

 

Are there any additional fees we will be responsible for upon entrance into the Park?

  • No, if you have opted into the Luxury Transportation package. Yes, if you will be providing your own transportation to and through the Park. This fee is $25 per vehicle (subject to change).

 

Is there electricity at the campsite to charge phones etc.?

  • No. There will be time to charge electronics during transitions as we drive from one location to the next.

 

 

MOAB FAQ

Where is best to fly in for this trip?

  • Canyonlands Field Airport in Moab, is best for both Commercial and Private Charter flights.

 

Am I responsible for ground transportation to and through Moab?

  • No, if you have selected the Luxury Transportation package. Otherwise, yes. There are several car rental places in Moab to get your vehicles from. Feel free to ask a Sojourney staff member for recommendations.

 

is there a meeting room with wifi  / AV equipment available if needed?

    • Yes. High speed internet is available throughout The Lodge.

     

    Is there flexibility to define the schedule to fit our group agenda?

    • Yes, 100%. We will make this exactly what it should be to meet your specifications.

    • Yes, if you will be providing your own transportation. Additional fees include:

      1. Car Rental Fee - consult with a Sojourney team member prior to renting your vehicle(s)

      2. Arches National Park Entrance Fee - $25 per vehicle (subject to change)

      3. Canyonlands National Park Entrance Fee - $25 per vehicle (subject to change)

      4. *Dead Horse Point State Park Entrance Fee - $15 per vehicle (subject to change)

Generally speaking we encourage placing your phones on airplane mode and enjoy the opportunity to disconnect for a few days.

    How long is the 4x4 Jeeping Excursion?

    • This is a full day experience ranging from 8-12 hours depending on which trail we do and what outcomes the organization is looking to accomplish.

     

    What is the insurance situation with regards to the 4x4 Jeeping Excursion?

    • We will either need to collect a Corporate Umbrella Policy that covers everyone on the trip, or we will go an individual route where each person provides their own individual comprehensive auto insurance coverage. A Sojourney staff member will guide you through the process to make sure everyone is set up properly.
